lakawon island

Lakawon is an island across Cadiz City. It became open to the public when it became famous the past 3 years.  It was already open before but the flock of visits started when the floating bar opened. The island is becoming more and more convenient for the public because of its restaurant, Huts and Hotel for overnight stays, camping site and just the beach really.  The bridge is also a crowd favorite, for me it’s the only place that provides shade when I’m swimming. Some seasons there are little jelly fishes that pass by, maybe because as the island grow famous, the water temperature grows hotter, I don’t know.

The Tawhay Floating Bar is also a perfect place to chill. It’s a two-story bar that you can roam around to. You can jump from the corners if you like for as long as you know how to swim. Service boats can take you from the bar to the island back and forth anytime you like, so why not do it anyway. Especially now that they are offering some pretty funny things to do. There’s a big floater for you to climb at and another floater that you’ll need someone to jump at so you get to be thrown away. I had the chance to be airborne for 5 seconds and hit the water head first (then all the bruises and body pain the next day, but I have no regrets.) Don’t worry you can wear life jackets in case you die in the fun process. The bar has drinks from beer to spirits. And if you just wanna hang, there are plenty of mattress to sleep on and just enjoy the breeze and the view. Prepare yourself for the heat.
