mabinay springs

We never planned on visiting Mabinay Springs, but since we were already in Kabankalan, we decided to spend the afternoon on a long drive and try touching the outskirts of Negros Oriental. We paid 10php for entrance, that’s it. Tall and proud trees are all over the place and the spring itself is amazing. You can swim in it for free and I swear I am not kidding you when I say that it’s a mix of blue green to blue.  You can see what’s below the water from the shallow area and then you can’t see anything else but your reflection on the deep parts. I would guess that the spring runs deep because there’s no current, it somehow resembles a lake to me. We kayaked for an hour bumping nature and other kayaks but time went by so fast we haven’t noticed we were roaming round and round for a while. Mabinay Springs also has a pool and a resort area, but we haven’t had the chance to try it because we were pretty content splashing and swimming in the spring. It was very slippery and cold.

Driving back, windows down, music up, I couldn’t ask for more.
